Tokusatsu Composer Shinsuke Kikuchi Dies Aged 89

Shunsuke Kikuchi, the prolific Japanese composer who worked on Kamen Rider, Dragonball and much more, has passed away.


The composer Shunsuke Kikuchi, well known for his work on Kamen Rider and Dragonball, has passed away. Kikuchi passed away on the 24th in Tokyo after suffering from aspiration pneumonia.

Kikuchi was well known for his many contributions to tokusatsu and anime, and was the composer for Kamen Rider until Kamen Rider ZX. He rose to prominence in the 1960s as a composer for the film The Eighth Enemy. In 1983, he was awarded the Japan Academy Award for his outstanding work on The Gate of Youth and To Trap a Kidnapper. In the following years, he gained worldwide recognition for his contributions to the Dragonball franchise.
