Kakegurui Live Action Sequel Starring Kamen Rider Gaim’s Mahiro Takasugi Will Release In April
The cast, containing three tokusatsu alumni, is set to return for the sequel to the 2019 film.
Another installment of the Kakegurui franchise will be coming out next month. Along with the Kakegurui Twins Amazon Prime series, this sequel to the 2019 Kakegurui live action film is releasing to the public in the coming weeks.
It was confirmed that the cast of the 2019 film will be returning for the next part of the gambling-centric story. Kamen Rider Gaim actor Mahiro Takasugi (Mitsuzane Kureshima/Kamen Rider Ryugen) will reprise his starring role as Ryota Suzui. Other tokusatsu actors returning to their roles include Ruka Matsuda (Poppy/Kamen Rider Poppy from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid) and Miki Yanagi (Sela/ZyuohShark from Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger).
The film will center around the cast interacting with new antagonist, the dangerous gambler Makuro Shikigami, played by Ryusei Fujii. The character of Shikigami is original to the film and not based on the anime or manga. A trailer was recently released showing new footage, as well as the new theme song “checkmate” by millet. The official title of the film, Kakegurui: Zettai Zetsumei Russian Roulette (Kakegurui: Last Resort Russian Roulette) was revealed for the first time.
Fans can expect the film to release in theaters on April 29th.
