Shin Godzilla Interactive Exhibit Now Open On Awaji Island
Visitors can now zipline into the gaping mouth of the full size replica of Shin Godzilla.
This past weekend on October 10th, the “Godzilla Interception Operation-National Awajishima Research Center” opened at “Nijigen Nomori” in Hyogo Prefectural Awajishima Park. Announced back in November of last year, the full sized replica based off the design of the King of the Monsters seen in the 2016 film Shin Godzilla (Godzilla: Resurgence in the U.S.) and operated by the Pasona Group held its grand opening ceremony to a crowd of exited local islanders. Representative Yasuyuki Nanbu of the Pasona Group was quoted at the opening as saying that he hopes that through Godzilla’s presence, Awaji Island will become a well-known tourist location. The attraction was originally set to debut during the summer, but was delayed due to the spread of coronavirus.
The exhibit is now the largest Godzilla-themed attraction in the world at a length of almost 400 feet long. Visitors to the attraction can participate in a electronic shooting gallery to prevent Godzilla’s cells from spreading. The main feature of the attraction is the chance to zipline into the mouth of Godzilla which has fog and lights to simulate Godzilla’s atomic beam. You can check out a video of what the zipline looks like in action below.
