Kamen Rider Drive’s Ryoma Takeuchi to Cameo in Detective Pikachu

Kamen Rider Drive star Ryoma Takeuchi will be making his Hollywood debut with a cameo in Detective Pikachu.

Ryoma Takeuchi, who was announced last November to be voicing the character of Tim in the Detective Pikachu movie, has recently been confirmed to be making a cameo appearance in the film as an unnamed Pokémon Trainer.

When Detective Pikachu writer/director Rob Letterman visited Japan for a production report meeting last November, he was able to meet Takeuchi, and decided to cast him in a cameo appearance. Takeuchi was able to modify his schedule to appear in the movie.

Speaking on his experience filming for the movie in London, Takeuchi stated, “I wanted to experience the Hollywood scene someday, so this lets me get one step closer to my dream. The costume they made for me was very well designed. It was only a short time, but it was very exciting! I was able to hold a very stylish and cool Pokéball, and I really wanted to bring it back with me! This motivates me to try harder for more Hollywood work!”

Detective Pikachu will be released on May 3 in Japan, and May 10 in the U.S.
