Live-Action Meiji Tokyo Renka Reveals First Trailer
First trailer for time travel fantasy also previews its opening theme.
This week, the official website for the live-action adaptation of Broccoli’s Meiji Tokyo Renka unveiled the first trailer for the series, which you can check out below! The video provides a first listen of the opening theme for the series, “Ichiya no Eien ni Kimi Omou” (On An Endless Night, I Think of You), performed by KENN, who also provided the opening and ending themes for the previous anime adaptation.
The series is described as a time travel fantasy romance centered on high school student Mei as she is whisked away to the Meiji era by a magician named Charlie. The show is set to have an eight episode run across Japan starting on April 9th and will be followed up with a film continuation.
The cast, which was announced last month, includes some familiar faces from recent tokusatsu projects, includes Rikka Ihara as Mei Ayazuki, Yutaka Kobayashi (Kaito Kumon in Kamen Rider Gaim) as Charlie, Shuto Miyazaka as Ogai Mori, Makaha Takahasi as Shunso Hishida, Taiki Yamazaki (Naga in Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger) as Otojiro Kawakami, Touman as Kyoka izumi, Yuki Kubota (Takatora Kureshima in Kamen Rider Gaim) as Goro Fujita, Tetsuya Iwanaga (Kuroto Dan in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid) as Yakumo Koizumi, and Shota Matsushima (Brain in Kamen Rider Drive) as Tosuke Iwasaki.
