Kamen Rider Zi-O to Feature Actors From Ryuki
Characters from Kamen Rider Ryuki will make a return in upcoming episodes of Kamen Rider Zi-O.
In February, Kamen Rider Zi-O will feature Takamasa Suga, reprising the role of the titular hero, Shinji Kido, from the 2002 series Kamen Rider Ryuki. There, he was a trainee journalist for the news site ORE Journal, working under the editor-in-chief Daisuke Okubo. This character will also be making an appearance, played by his original actor, Kanji Tsuda.
With these two actors is the reveal of Another Ryuga, based on Kamen Rider Ryuga – this Rider appeared in the Kamen Rider Ryuki movie, EPISODE FINAL, as a dark counterpart to the main hero.
Suga was most recently in the 2018 winter movie, Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FOREVER, as a voice-only role for Ryuki, and also provided new dialogue for both Ryuki and Ryuga on the Complete Selection Modification release of the V Buckle. Suga looks back on the filming of Ryuki 16 years ago, commenting:
“I still remember the first chilly day of filming at Saitama Super Arena. The director (Ryuta Tasaki) left a strong impression with me when he said ‘Please, love this role’. As I get older, and feel the weight of the influence that Kamen Rider has, that weight reminds me that it’s an important piece of work.”
Meanwhile, it only took 3 seconds for Kanji Tsuda to get back into character, because he feels the character lives on in his body.
These characters will appear in episodes 21 and 22, which will air on February 3rd and 10th respectively.
