Summary of Zi-O SG Watcher: Vol.18

Bandai’s candy toy blog posted a new entry for Kamen Rider Zi-O, revealing a long-awaited addition to the SO-DO line.

The man in charge of candy toy development goes by D, and in honor of Zi-O, he has changed his usual nickname to Di-O.

The blog opens with a reminder that SO-DO Kamen Rider Zi-O: RIDE 4 has been released. The set includes OOOArmor from the show (with a left pointing hand for regular Zi-O), KuugaArmor from the upcoming winter movie, and the packaging-exclusive forms of KabutoArmor, BladeArmor, and KivaArmor. It’s a beefy wave full of exclusive content.

“ArmorTime: Please! Wizard!”

The RIDE 5 reveals continue as Di-O shows off Geiz in WizardArmor, a form previously featured in episode 8 of the show. The shoulders feature Wizard’s Flame Wizard Ring.

The bulk of this form are the cloak and spell circle tassels hanging from Geiz’s back. In order to make this, the two parts attach to the back of the Geiz body. The spell circle features rotating parts, providing the ability to pose them in dynamic ways.

The armor also includes an alternate Ziku-Driver with two RideWatches inserted, which also happens to include the bottom half of Geiz’s watch strap.

Much like Zi-O’s OOOArmor, this form uses a normal Geiz body, which has been included in the wave. In place of the usual open hands, they have included a pair of open hands with closed fingers, which can be used for chopping, or for an iconic Wizard pose in WizardArmor.

Because WizardArmor was put on hold for a while, SO-DO was capable of making sure that the armor could fit into one slot in the wave, rather than taking up two slots like OOOArmor. This means that there have been four items revealed for RIDE 5 so far, that being the parts for WizardArmor and DecadeArmor.

While no photos are available for it, Di-O has also clarified some things regarding future SO-DO releases. The toyline has made an effort to produce Rider Armors for every lead Rider, including the ones only given forms on the toy packaging for their respective DX RideWatch.

Di-O has clarified that GaimArmor is on the way, and that RIDE 6 specifically will contain AgitoArmor, HibikiArmor, and WArmor, the last of which is from the upcoming winter movie.

However, there is one snag for fans trying to display every armor together: The Armor Changing Kamen Rider Zi-O (Action Body Set), which has been released with every wave since RIDE 1, will no longer be released after RIDE 4, so that will be the last chance to buy duplicates.

The play style of SO-DO has always been one where fans are encouraged to swap armor around on a single figure, but Di-O acknowledges there are those who like to display each of them together.

“Next time, the last blog of the year will be on the topic of ‘On parade in the spotlight’! Please look forward to the renewal on December 23rd!”
