Ryoma Takeuchi Cast In Detective Pikachu
The former star of Kamen Rider Drive will provide a main voice for the Japanese dub
At a press conference at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo in Tokyo, actor Ryoma Takeuchi was announced as a member of the Japanese language voice cast in the upcoming Detective Pikachu movie from Warner Brothers. Takeuchi will provide the voice of Tim, played by Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom). In the film, Smith plays a teen who can understand the speech of the titular Detective Pikachu (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) who he teams up with in order to find his kidnapped father.
Takeuchi is best known for playing Shinnosuke Tomari in 2014’s Kamen Rider Drive and last reprises the role in Kamen Rider Heisei Generations: Dr. Pac-Man vs. Ex-Aid & Ghost with Legend Riders. Earlier this year, Takeuchi could be seen in the movie Sensei Kunshu, which had him also film a cameo in a music video by K-pop group TWICE.
Directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps), Detective Pikachu will arrive in theaters on May 11, 2019.
