Netflix Adds Live-Action Kakegurui Series Starring Kamen Rider Gaim’s Mahiro Takasugi
Live-action Kakegurui series starring Kamen Rider Gaim’s Mahiro Takasugi comes to Netflix.
Netflix has begun streaming the live-action adaptation of Homura Kawamoto and Tohru Naomura’s Kakegurui manga in the United States as well as the United Kingdom. The 10 episode series premiered in Japan back in January and began expansion to other territories starting in February.
The anime adaptation’s first season premiered in 2017 with the second season having already been announced. The show’s plot is described as follows:
Hyakkaou Private Academy. An institution for the privileged with a very peculiar curriculum. You see, when you’re the sons and daughters of the wealthiest of the wealthy, it’s not athletic prowess or book smarts that keep you ahead. It’s reading your opponent, the art of the deal. What better way to hone those skills than with a rigorous curriculum of gambling? At Hyakkaou Private Academy, the winners live like kings, and the losers are put through the wringer. But when Yumeko Jabami enrolls, she’s gonna teach these kids what a high roller really looks like!
The show features several cast members from notable tokusatsu shows from the past several years, including Mahiro Takasugi (Mitsuzane Kureshima/ Kamen Rider Ryugen from Kamen Rider Gaim), Ruka Matsuda (Poppy Pipopapo/ Kamen Rider Poppy from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid), and Miki Yanagi (Sela/ ZyuohShark from Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger).
