Tsuburaya Announces Mr. Osomatsu Collaboration
Tsuburaya Productions announced a special collaboration with Mr. Osomatsu featuring tie-in merchandise.
It has been recently announced that the Ultra franchise will collaborate with the Mr. Osomatsu anime series. The character designer for Mr. Osomatsu, Naoyuki Asano, drew a special promotional image for the collaboration.
Both series originated in the year of 1966, and share a “six brothers” theme due to Mr. Osomatsu being about six siblings, and the Ultra franchise having the iconic “Ultra Brothers” which originated with six members. This was reportedly reflected by giving the Matsuno siblings a hoodie reflecting one of the six Ultra Brothers (Ultraman, Zoffy, Ultraseven, Ultraman Jack, Ultraman Ace, and Ultraman Taro). The other characters of Mr. Osomatsu are depicted as some of the Ultra franchise’s kaiju and seijin.
Tie-in merchandise of the new super-powered sextuplet has also been announced, which will start in December with retail shops and mail-order websites stocking goods. Dash Stores in Ikebukuro, Hokkaido, Fukuoka, and Miyagi and Shinjuku Marui Annex’s 6th-floor event space are planned to stock the merchandise.
Animate cafes will also host this collaboration at their Akihabara and Osaka locations along with the Sweets Paradise cafes in Shinjuku, Nagoya, and Tennoji will also be having food and merchandise items.
