Press Conference Held for Upcoming Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Film
This past Monday, a press conference was held with production details on the upcoming movie, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: True Ending.
The press conference for Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: True Ending was held at the Tamarokuto Science Center inside the Planetarium. This press conference was held just before the press conference for Uchu Sentai Kyuranger THE MOVIE – Ghess Indaver’s Counterattack in the same venue. The “true ending” to the TV series will be depicted in this film.
The summary of the film depicts a world where reality has been destroyed. A ninja group looks to control the VR (Virtual Reality) world, and Emu and the others must fight them.
The movie is being produced in collaboration with PlayStation VR. In the film, Kuroto Dan develops a system known as GENM VR, which uses an Ex-Aid paint color scheme on a PlayStation VR headset, and Emu will transform into Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Creator Gamer. The press conference featured a video using the Planetarium’s screen on a 360° camera.
Ex-Aid actors Hiroki Iijima, Toshiki Seto, Ukyou Matsumoto, Tetsuya Iwanaga, Ruka Matsuda, Hayato Onozuka, Shouma Kai, and Director Shojiro Nakazawa were in participation at the press conference. The suits for both Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Creator Gamer and Kamen Rider Fuma also made appearances. Onozuka, who plays Kiriya Kujo, appeared while wearing a white coat and encouraged the audience to watch the film to find out why.
Emu’s actor Iijima, speaking about the appearance of GENM VR, said, “I knew about the existence of VR, but I had never used it. When I think about what it’s like wearing it… It’s like a new world.” Matsuda, the actress portraying Poppy Pipopapo, stated that she thought that looking at VR felt funny, but that using it during the performance was really cool.
Taiga’s actor Matsumoto described his experience working on Ex-Aid over this past year, saying that acting through the dialogue of the show has become easier. On this same subject, Pallad’s actor Kai stated, “In the beginning I felt really excited. But now the story has shifted, and I’m happy to have gotten used to Kamen Rider. I’ve been able to start ad libbing, and I feel like my acting has leveled up.” Onozuka spoke on the topic of returning to the show as Kiriya. “I left about half a year ago, and when I came back I felt like everyone had improved. ”
Iijima gave a short speech to end the press conference. “This movie is the conclusion to Ex-Aid. Ex-Aid’s themes are games and doctors. The gaming aspect has adopted the latest VR technology, and I think we seem like doctors that treat difficult illnesses.”
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: True Ending will open across Japanese theaters on August 5th.
