Shin Godzilla Blu-ray Sets Take Top Two Spots on Oricon Charts

The Blu-ray sets for Shin Godzilla take the top two spots on the Oricon charts.

Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi’s Shin Godzilla, released in Japan on July 29th, 2016 after a twelve year hiatus, won numerous awards earlier this month. The high praise continues as both the Special Edition Blu-ray disc and the standard edition Blu-ray disc took the number #1 and number #2 spots, respectively, on Oricon’s overall Blu-ray Disc chart for the week of March 20th through 26th. Shin Godzilla is the first film to take the top two spots since Oricon began ranking Blu-rays.

Shin Godzilla‘s Special Edition 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc set has also made a big breakthrough by placing 4th in the overall Blu-ray chart. This feat has only been accomplish once before back in Feburary 2011 with the movie Odoru Dai Sōsasen The Movie 3 Yatsura o Kaihō seyo!
