Pacific Rim Sequel Casts Its Female Lead

Singer and actor, Cailee Spaeny, cast as the latest addition to Pacific Rim 2.

PacRim 2 is steadily marching towards its February 23, 2018 premiere. Earlier this year, Legendary Pictures signed Steven S. DeKnight as the new director, and later announced that John Boyega would play the main lead.

Variety magazine broke the news that pop singer, Cailee Spaeny, is joining the film as its female lead.

Boyega tweeted his praise for Speany following the casting reveal:

This will be Spaeny’s second film credit, and first in a major Hollywood release. Actor, Scott Eastwood who played Lieutenant GQ Edwards from this year’s Suicide Squad will also star in an undisclosed role.

Pacific Rim 2 begins filming this November in Australia and China. Guillermo del Toro and John Boyega are producing the film.
