Cast for Live Action Gintama Adaptation Announced

The cast for the upcoming live action adaptation of the popular Gintama series has been revealed

Gintama ( 銀魂) is a popular manga series centered around an alternate version of Edo era Japan. Aliens known as Amanto invade and take over, turning the Shogunate into a puppet government. The story focuses around a group of heroes who perform odd jobs and lead by the eccentric samurai, Gintoki Sakata. 

The cast includes Shun Oguri (Nobunaga Concerto) as Gintoki Sakata; Masaki Suda (Kamen Rider W‘s Phillip) as Shinpachi Shimura, Gintoki’s apprentice; Kanna Hasimoto (Assassination Classroom: Graduation) as the alien teenager Kagura; and Ryo Yoshizawa (Kamen Rider Fourze‘s Kamen Rider Meteor) as Sougo Okita a member of the police force.

The Gintama movie will air in 2017. The original manga was published in North America by Viz Media
