Casting Revealed for Live Action Full Metal Alchemist Adaptation

The cast list for the upcoming live action adaptation of Full Metal Alchemist has been revealed.


A live action adaption is planned to be released in the Winter of 2017. Ryosuke Yamada of Hey! Say! Jump has been cast as Edward, Ao Ha Ride’s Tsubasa Honda as Winry, Mother’s Yasuko Matsuyuki as the Homunculus Lust, and I Am Ichihashi: Journal of a Murderer’s Dean Fujioka as Colonel Roy Mustang are among those cast for the movie so far.

This film is based off of the manga series Hagane no Renkinjutsushi by Hiromu Arakawa. It was published from August, 2001 to July, 2010 in monthly magazine Gekkan Shonen Gangan.

Filming is set to begin in June of 2016 and is set to wrap up in August of the same year. Filming will take place in both Japan and Italy.

Full Metal Alchemist is the story of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are practitioners of the science of  Alchemy. After their mother dies, they try to bring her back from the dead, but it only ends with Edward losing an arm and a leg, and Alphonse losing his entire body, being forced to possess a suit of armor.
