Voice Actor Toru Ohira Passes Away
The legendary narrator and voice actor, Toru Ohira, died of pneumonia at the age of 86.
Toru Ohira was an incredibly prolific voice actor who got his big break by dubbing Darth Vader for the original Star Wars’ Japanese release. He would go on to do voice work for tokusatsu, anime, and video games as well. Some of his more notable roles include Dr. Nambu from Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, Hakushon Daimao in The Genie Family, and Homer Simpson.
Ohira was the narrator for a plethora of tokusatsu, including Spider-Man, and played characters in shows like Spectreman and Ambassador Magma. He narrated every Super Sentai from Himitsu Sentai Gorenger to Kagaku Sentai Dynaman, and then returned to narrate Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger and to play Bacchus Fundo in Choriki Sentai Ohranger.
