Toku Spirits, a Tokusatsu Charity Event, to be held in the Philippines March 27th
A charity tokusatsu event featuring four Super Sentai actors will be held in San Fernando City, Pampanga in the Philippines on March 27th, 2016.
The event run by Georgette Anne Inaba, wife of Hikari Sentai Maskman’s Kazunori Inaba, will be aimed for Filipino-based tokusatsu fans, with proceeds going toward Kids Cancer Vibe, a Philippines-based organization providing medical assistance to children battling cancer.
According to an interview by ABS-CBN, Mrs. Inaba stated that her husband’s dream was to help others, especially in the Philippines as its people are close to his heart. For those who grew up in the 80s and 90s in the Philippines, tokusatsu shows such as Maskman and Bioman were the childhood equivalent of American audiences who grew up with Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.
Maskman was dubbed in Tagalog as Laser Squadron Maskman and aired from 1989 to 1991. It was the first tokusatsu show to be dubbed in Tagalog.
In addition to Kazunori Inaba, Choudenshi Bioman’s Michiko Makino and Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman’s Kei Shindachiya will also be there to greet fans and join in on the event.
A fourth guest has been teased for the event by the following video, but has not officially been announced at this time.
