Ultraman Nexus Added to Crunchyroll
Ultraman Nexus joins Crunchyroll’s streaming catalog today.
Tsuburaya previously revealed that Ultraman Nexus, the 2004 entry in the Ultra Series, would be the sixth Ultra show added to Crunchyroll’s catalog. They uploaded the first four episodes to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the end of the show and Nexus’s guest appearance on Ultraman X. Thes show goes live tonight at 5pm Pacific time for Crunchyroll members everywhere except Asia. Go here to watch the show once it’s uploaded.
Crunchyroll’s official synopsis reads:
Kazuki Komon, a failed Rescue Squad member, gets recruited by the Terrestrial Liberation Trust (TLT) to join the Night Raiders, a top classified special task force assembled by the TLT to protect Earth from space monsters. After undergoing stringent training, Kazuki gets paired with the cool Night Raider sub-captain Nagi Saijyo for active duty.
Ultraman Nexus aired in 2004 as part of the Ultra N Project, an attempt to revamp the Ultra Series. Nexus was notable for its darker tone, and for using multiple hosts, known as Dunamists. The show was cut short to 37 episodes because its tone didn’t sit well with younger fans, so the ratings suffered. Later, the show was re-aired in a late-night slot with better ratings.
In addition to announcing the show, Crunchyroll thanked the fans for supporting their efforts to bring over Ultraman. Nexus joins Ultraman Leo, Ultraman 80, Ultraman Max, Ultraman Mebius, and Ultraman X on the platform.
Thank you all so much for supporting our efforts to bring more Ultraman to all of you! ☺️ pic.twitter.com/xGdErt6chI
