Shuriken Sentai Ninninger vs ToQger the Movie: Ninja in Wonderland, the latest in the Sentai VS series teaming up the two most recent teams, premiered across 317 screens in Japan and was viewed by 105,911 people.
The “VS” feature opened at 3rd over the weekend at box offices in Japan, rising by one spot from Ressha Sentai ToQger vs Kyoryuger The Movie in 2015.
The movie made 106,465,700 yen, just above last year’s $738,000 opening weekend, making it the second smallest opening for a Sentai “VS” feature since the series was moved from home media to theaters in 2009 with Engine Sentai Go-Onger vs Gekiranger.
Ninja in Wonderland opened just below Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Nobunaga Concerto and maintained 49.9% of the revenue of the previous movie, Shuriken Sentai Ninninger: The Dinosaur Lord and the Magnificent Ninja Scroll.
Ninja in Wonderland is projected to earn approximately 600 million yen.
