Tori Matsuzaka joins the film version of Nozomi Makino’s Sanada Ten Braves.
Sanada Ten Braves tells the story of the legendary group of ninja from the Edo period who served under Yukimura Sanada. The Braves and its individual members often show up in popular media about the period, like the anime Samurai Deeper Kyo and games like Samurai Warriors 2.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Nippon TV, Nozomi Makino put on a stage play based on the novel Sanada Sandaiki. Now a film based on the play is being produced, and is aiming for a September, 2016 release.
Tori Matsuzaka, who started his acting career playing Shiba Takeru in Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, starred as Saizo Kirigakure in the play and will reprise the role for the film.
Matsuzaka is joined by Kankuro Nakamura, who also starred in the play, and Yuko Oshima. The film will be directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi, who directed the Eight Ranger and 20th Century Boys films.
