Kamen Rider hits the mobile game market in a new action-RPG game, Kamen Rider Storm Heroes.

Kamen Rider Storm Heroes is a free-to-play tablet and mobile phone game featuring an ever increasing roster of Riders and villains from all of the series, with the promise of more to come over time.

In combat, players build a roster of two main characters, and three “sub” characters. A third main character is loaned from other players. Using a 3/4th overhead perspective, the team of three battle a variety of well known enemies, including Shocker Combatmen, Riotroopers, Inves, and even clone Riders.

Character upgrades are handled similarly to popular mobile game, Puzzle & Dragons — players earn characters either through gameplay, or through in-game currency which can then be spent on Bandai’s “gasha” system, which gives players a random assortment of heroes and villains. Unwanted heroes and villains can be “fed” to other units to level them up, and feeding duplicates of the same hero or villain activates a “Limit Break”, which increases the unit’s power even further.

Currently, the game is only available in Japanese and in Japanese regions.

I saw Kamen Rider Super-1 as a child and have been fascinated by tokusatsu ever since. Learned to read Japanese from Sailor Moon tankobon, and became a magical girl fan. Studied and lived in Japan, and am now working on my Ph.D (but unfortunately, it's not related to giant robots, spandex fightin' men, or magical girls).

This game is almost exactly a better version of RiderBout, although most of the signature attacks are pretty much garbage. 4 star heroes are pretty good, but 90% of the 3 star heros, and anyone less has a terribly generic animation. Otherwise, love it.
