Boom! Studios has been announced as the holder of the license to future Power Rangers comics, in partnership with Saban Brands.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Boom! Studios will focus on the Mighty Morphin’ era of the series, which they aim to appeal to fans of the mid-90’s era. Previous iterations of Power Rangers comics were published by Marvel Comics in the mid-90’s and more recently by Papercutz. BOOM! Studios editor-in-chief Matt Gagnon expressed that the story would be vast in scope while staying true to the existing property.
Fans at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con can pick up one of six exclusive blind-boxed one page comics at the Boom Studios booth, each focusing on one of the Power Rangers. They will each contain pinup art by Robocop‘s Goñi Montes, and feature the creative team of Transformers: Windblade‘s Mairghread Scott and Translucid‘s Daniel Bayliss.
Further details on the upcoming Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers comic have yet to be announced. San Diego Comic-Con will be held in San Diego, CA from July 9th to 12th.
