Tobei Tachibana Returns In Super Hero Taisen GP
The character of Tobei Tachibana, mentor to many of the original Kamen Rider characters, is confirmed to be returning for the upcoming film, Super Hero Taisen GP: Kamen Rider #3.
Revealed via the film’s pamphlet, comedian Rakkyo Ide (Kikujiro, Glory to the Filmmaker!) will be playing Tobei Tachibana, being the third actor to portray a version of the character on screen. The late Akiji Kobayashi (also known for playing Captain Muramatsu in Ultraman) portrayed Tobei from 1971 with the original Kamen Rider TV series to 1975’s Kamen Rider Stronger. Hiroshi Miyauchi (Kamen Rider V3, Goranger) later took on the role in the 2005 reimagining Kamen Rider THE FIRST.
Although Tobei Tachibana himself will appear, this version will not be the one who appeared during the original run. Instead, Rakkyo’s Tachibana will be based on the manga counterpart, a butler who assisted Takeshi Hongo during his original adventures.
As noted in previous news posts, Kamen Rider #3’s existence will be a big highlight to the film’s story. Tetsuo Kurata, who portrayed Kotaro Minami in Kamen Rider Black and Kamen Rider Black RX will be reprising his role since his guest appearances on Kamen Rider Decade and its theatrical movie, Kamen Rider Decade: All Riders vs Dai-Shocker.
Other returning actors include Kento Handa as Takumi Inui/Kamen Rider Faiz, Hironari Amano as Sakuya Tachibana/Kamen Rider Garren, and Yuichi Nakamura as Yuto Sakurai/Kamen Rider Zeronos. Black Shogun will be played by former MMA fighter and professional wrestler Nobuhiko Takada.
Super Hero Taisen GP: Kamen Rider #3 will premiere in Japan on March 21st. Watch our coverage of the film’s recent press event here.
