Daikaijuu Rush: Ultra Frontier Returns to Shin Ultraman Retsuden

Joining Shin Ultraman Retsuden at the end of the weekly episodes is Daikaijuu Rush: Ultra Frontier. This becomes the second miniseries to air with the Ultra Series clip show program and places the iconic Ultra Monsters in a unique light.

urfgf3Ultra Frontier, a direct follow up to the Ultra Galaxy card game, is seeing its storyline broadcast with select episodes of Shin Ultraman Retsuden. The series features three Ultra Monsters from the various Ultraman TV shows taking on somewhat heroic forms as they traverse the galaxy hunting dangerous creatures.

The new series original premiered as a double bill with the first Ultraman Ginga movie. Called Dino Tank Hunting, the first adventure in the Ultra Frontier story threw viewers into the middle of a high energy battle that featured the return of warriors called Alien Hunters, first introduced in the second season of the Ultra Galaxy TV series, Ultra Galaxy NEO.

The high quality CGI series began airing with episode 12 of Shin Ultraman Retsuden in the arc called Red King Hunting, and continued with the two-part Neronga Hunting before returning after the completion of Ultraman Ginga with Antlar Hunting, beginning with episode 29. The series will return to the big screen in March as another double bill with the second Ultraman Ginga movie. This second Ultra Frontier movie is to be titled Verokron Hunting.

urfg2Shin Ultraman Retsuden, a weekly clip show featuring the greatest moments from the Ultraman  franchise, aired its first miniseries with episode 57 of its original incarnation, Ultraman Retsuden. This miniseries, titled Ultra Zero Fight, featured the continuing exploits of Ultraman Zero and his Ultimate Force Zero team over 26 episodes which were eventually compiled into two movies with new footage for a home media release.

    So THAT’S where Ultraman Ginga’s budget went!
