ULTRAMAN Anime Announces Heroine Voice, Additional Cast
The upcoming anime ULTRAMAN, based on the manga series, has announced new cast members.
Sumire Morohoshi will voice Rena Sayama, the lead heroine character within the series. One of Morohoshi’s earliest roles was that of the ill-fated Nina Tucker in the 2009 Fullmetal Alchemist: Brother anime series.
Kenjiro Tsuda, who voiced Redyue in Kamen Rider Gaim will voice Adad, an alien character found in the series. Adad is based on the alien Dada, who first appeared in the 28th episode of the original Ultraman TV series.
Also announced were Ken Uo at Mitsuhiro Ide, a character from the original TV series, Shigeru Ushiyama as Edo, Ryota Takeuchi as Jack, Eiji Hanawa as Yosuke Endo, Hirokazu Sekido as Kurata, Minori Shiraishi as Shiraishi and Kaiji Soze as Alien Bemlar.
The motion capture actors for the main cast were also announced today.
Haruka Shibai will portray Rena Sakayama, Kaijie Soze will portray Mitsuhiro Ide and Belar, Shinjo Kasahara, who played Naoto/TimeFire in Mirai Sentai Timeranger will portray Dan Moroboshi while Teruaki Ogawa, who portrayed Sasuke/NinjaRed in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger and Hyuga/Black Knight II in Seiju Sentai Gingaman will portray Shin Hayata and Edo. Katsuyuki Yamazaki, who played the lead in the 1998-99 direct to video series Ultra Seven EVOLUTION will portray Shinjiro Hayata.
Also released were various new promotional stills for the series.
ULTRAMAN is written by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi and is a sequel to the original 1966 Ultraman series and ignores the various tokusatsu sequels. Within the series, Shinjiro Hayata, the son of Shin Hayata, the protagonist of the original series, is found to have the mysterious Ultraman factor, allowing him strange powers. Donning a suit based on his father’s heroic form, Shinjiro becomes the new Ultraman.
The series will have a worldwide premiere on Netflix on April 1st, 2019. ULTRAMAN is directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed).
Cast members include Ryohei Kimura as Shinjiro, Takuya Eguchi as Dan Moroboshi, Megumi Han (Ultraman Geed) as Seiji Hokuto, and Hideyuki Tanaka as Shin Hayata.
OLDCODEX will provide the opening theme for the series. Having previously provided the opening theme for series such as Free! and Kuroko’s Basketball, the song will be entitled Sight Over The Battle.
