Legendary Puts Together Godzilla vs. Kong Writers Room
Legendary is gathering a team of creatives to plot out the future of their “MonsterVerse,” which culminates with Godzilla vs. Kong.
Legendary Entertainment is following the recent trend of treating film franchises like serial television by establishing a writers room for their upcoming kaiju crossover, Godzilla vs. Kong. Leading the room is Terry Rossio, who is known for his work on the Pirates of the Caribbean series. This will be Rossio’s second outing with the King of Monsters, as he also worked on the story for the 1998 Godzilla.
Joining Rossio are Star Trek Beyond‘s Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, Pacific Rim: Uprising‘s T.S. Nowlin, Lindsey Beer, Cat Vasko, and veteran TV, film, and comics writer J. Michael Straczynski. Once the team hammers out the story beats, a writer will be chosen to work on the screenplay.
Kong: Skull Island, second film in the MonsterVerse, is out now and is currently “Certified Fresh“ on Rotten Tomatoes. It will be followed by Godzilla: King of Monsters on March 22, 2019. The grand finale, Godzilla vs. Kong, is slated for release on May 29, 2020.
