Action Director Koichi Sakamoto Wins Best Variety Award
Koichi Sakamoto wins Best Variety Award at the 12th Satellite Broadcasting Association of Japan Original Program Awards.
Koichi Sakamoto captured the audience’s hearts at the 12th Satellite Broadcasting Association of Japan Original Program Awards where he did an action scene during his entrance. His program titled 24-Hours Marugoto: Koichi Sakamoto’s Tokusatsu Action Special Program, won Best Variety at the Grand Prix and Television Program Category.
Judges praised the director and his program, calling it a “national treasure” and “the grand slam of tokusatsu world”.
“I can’t believe I’m actually here, and I’m so glad that I worked very hard these past 38 years,” the humble director said as smiled and looked away.

Koichi Sakamoto is a Japanese-born stunt actor, and producer for films and television. He is best known for directing action scenes in Power Rangers as well as in other tokusatsu shows such as Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. He will be directing the upcoming Kamen Rider Jeanne and Kamen Rider Aguilera with Girls Remix, a Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club spin-off.
