Veteran Tokusatsu Composer Chumei Watanabe Passed Away

Veteran tokusatsu composer Chumei Watanabe (96) passed away on June 23.

On June 27, 2022, it was suddenly reported that veteran tokusatsu composer Chumei Watanabe (96) passed away due to heart failure on the morning of June 23.

Watanabe was well-known and beloved for having a hand in creating the music of popular anime like Mazinger Z and tokusatsu like Himitsu Sentai Gorenger. His involvement on Gorenger was what brought him back as the composer of the 45th Super Sentai series, Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger.
