ULTRAMAN Anime Photo Exhibition Announced for Tokyo and Osaka
Tsuburaya Productions announced an art show on Feb. 20, 2022, to celebrate the release of the second season of the ULTRAMAN anime on Netflix.
Tsuburaya said that the Inheritance x ULTRAMAN art show will be themed around the concept of “inheritance.” The show hope to explore the growth of the Ultraman series from 1966 to the ULTRAMAN anime. The main subjects of the photographs are figures of Ultraman, Ace and Seven from the first season. The shots are of threezero’s line of ULTRAMAN figures. The show will also host exhibits of full scale ULTRAMAN masks and other threezero figures.
The art show will have two viewing durations, with one in Tokyo and the other in Osaka. The Tokyo show is at the Tokyo Fujifilm Imaging Plaza and lasts from Feb. 23, 2022, to March 14, 2022. The exhibit is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. JST every day except Tuesdays. It will close at 2 p.m. on the final day.
The Osaka show is at the Osaka Fujifilm Imaging Plaza and lasts from April 6, 2022, to April 25, 2022. The hours are the same as the Tokyo exhibit.
Admission to both shows is free and various photographs from the show can be bought at an online storefront. The pieces on sale range from B0-B2 in size.
The Inheritance x ULTRAMAN art show features images from photographer Manabu Nakanishi. Photographs at the show are taken on Nakanishi’s Fujifilm GFX100 camera, which captures images with over 100 million pixels.
Using the camera’s film simulation feature, pictures can be taken in monochrome and negative variations. This allows much more control over the look and feel of the final photographs than most digital cameras.
Season 2 of ULTRAMAN comes out on April 14, 2022, on Netflix and is produced by Production I.G and Sola Digital Art.
