The production staff for Kamen Rider Black Sun has been revealed with Kazuya Shiraishi directing the upcoming series.

The staff for the upcoming reboot series Kamen Rider Black Sun has been announced. Directing the upcoming series is Kazuya Shiraishi (The Blood of Wolves, The Devil’s Path).

Director: Kazuya Shiraishi

The special effects director is Kiyotaka Taguchi, director of Ultraman Z. Working on the script is Izumi Takahashi, who has worked with Shiraishi prior with scriptwriting for The Devil’s Path. Visual Concept Designer is Shinji Higuchi, director of Shin Godzilla and the upcoming Shin Ultraman film.

“Kamen Rider Black and the monsters have tough bodies. However, the monsters also show pain from being reconstructed. I want to write the coolest of monster fights, dramatically depicting their strengths, their weaknesses, and their transience. Please look forward to it.”

“When I heard Director Shiraishi would have a hand in Kamen Rider, it was such an amazing thing that I came up with idea after idea. How would be the monsters be created? What would this world with monsters look like? Then when I was assigned for concept visuals, I wanted to make something from scratch, a re-imagining of ‘modified humans and monsters.’ I hope everyone will look forward to this.”

From Special Effects Director Kiyotaka Taguchi

“I’m honored to be invited to be the special effects director of Kamen Rider Black Sun. I just want to make cool models for this production, models that leave an impression just as they left one on 7-year-old me watching Kamen Rider Black. This will be a production made to respect the Kamen Rider series but also, in a sense, breaks its molds. I feel like we’ll have something never seen before. I hope you’re looking forward to this.”

More information on Kamen Rider Black Sun will be revealed over the next few weeks. From November 19th to the 21st, the “Tamashii Nation Online 2021” event will take place. During this event the key visual design for Kamen Rider Black Sun will take place on the final day of the event on the 21st.

Kamen Rider Black Sun will air in Spring 2022.
