Three Men Arrested for Production and Sale of Fake Ultraman Figures
Three men from Guangdong Province in China were arrested on September 2, 2021, for the sale and production of fake Ultraman figures.
The Shanghai police department announced on September 2, 2021, that they had detained three men for the production and sale of Ultraman figures. The group had produced 70 million yen worth of fake figures on an online market. The police also detained 5,000 figures from the factory floor.
A group of men living in Shanghai met up to compare figures and noticed that the glue on the fakes was weak and that the hips did not rotate correctly. After realizing the figures were fake, the men reported their discovery to the Shanghai police department. The department was then able to track the production down to the illegal manufacturer.
The manufacturer produced figures of Ultraman Orb, Ultraman Dark, Ultraman Tiga and others.
