Marvel Comics Teases The Mystery of Ultraseven
Marvel teases a new comic series, The Mystery of Ultraseven, devoted to Ultraseven due out next year.
After being teased during the Ultraman Day online streaming festivities, writers Kyle Higgins and Matt Groom have unveiled a new comic titled The Mystery of Ultraseven, which is set to come out in early 2022. The comic will be the third in Marvel’s line of Ultraman comics, following after The Rise of Ultraman and The Trials of Ultraman, both of which ran for 5 issues. According to Higgins and Groom, the new series will serve to fill in the details of the whereabouts of Dan Moroboshi and Ultraseven since disappearing in the 1960s, as well as digging into the mysteries around the kaiju and the United Science Patrol.
In the world of the comics, Dan Moroboshi and Ultraseven were the first USP members investigating kaiju-related incidents. The Mystery of Ultraseven will also connect the characters from the original Ultra Q backup story shown in The Rise of Ultraman #1, as well as provide connections with the storylines of the Ultraman, Ultraseven, and Return of Ultraman TV series.
Originally airing in fall of 1967 and running for 49 episodes, the Ultraseven TV series was the third entry into the Ultra Series and followed the exploits of the Ultra Garrison, a team who utilizes a high-tech arsenal to combat constant extraterrestrial threats. Unbeknownst to them, Dan Moroboshi is secretly helping out the Garrison in their fight against the alien invaders as Ultraseven!
The trade paperback of The Rise of Ultraman and all five issues of The Trials of Ultraman are out now.
