Toei Announces Super Battle Junretsuger Movie
Comedy movie staring the members of tokusatsu alumni group JUNretsu will debut this fall
Toei has released the first trailer and synopsis for the upcoming movie Super Battle Junretsuger, which you can check out below. The movie stars Ryohei Odai (Zolda in Kamen Rider Ryuki), Yujiro Shirakawa (KabutoRaiger in Ninpu Sentai Hurricanger), Shota Gogami, and Kazuyoshi Sakai (Gao Black in Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger), who are all members of JUNretsu, a vocal music group consisting of former tokusatsu alumni. Voice actor Kenichi Suzumura (Ryutaros in Kamen Rider Den-O) will serve as the narrator for the movie.
The plot of the film revolves around the mysterious disappearance of several handsome men from public bath houses all across Japan. When the authorities can’t handle the case, it’s up to the Sento (bath house) Hero Junretsuger to solve the mystery and transform into heroes via special karaoke microphones. For the movie, the helmets for Odai (Blue), Shirakawa (Red), and Sakai (Violet) are designed as nods to their past respective tokusatsu roles. The group previously had a cameo in Ninpu Sentai Hurricanger: 10 YEARS AFTER, which oddly enough is member Shota Gogami’s only tokusatsu acting credit, which may explain the ninja star on his character’s helmet.
Super Battle Junretsuger is currently slated for a Fall 2021 release.
