This Week in Tokusatsu Merchandise 2/15/21 – 2/19/21

The tokusatsu merchandise roundup for the middle of February 2021 features a wave of Kamen Rider Kuuga items as well as more new merchandise from the Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and Ultra Series. 

No Fear! No Pain! We’re starting this roundup with new goods from the first Kamen Rider of the Heisei era Kamen Rider Kuuga.

First up is the SO-DO CHRONICLE Kamen Rider Kuuga Beatchaser 2000 & Armor Machine Gouram [Premium Bandai Limited] set. This set features Kamen Rider Kuuga’s Beatchaser 2000 which is an upgraded model of the Trychaser 2000 that was designed specifically for Kuuga. It is faster and more durable than the TRCS 2000 model. It also features Kamen Rider Kuuga’s Armor Machine Gouram which is a mysterious stag-beetle-like entity formed from fragments found at the original excavation site from the beginning of the TV series. After its initial formation, the Gouram assimilated various other metals as it made its way to Tokyo in its search for the current Kuuga. The Beatchaser 2000 measures a height of approx. 135 mm x width of approx. 55 mm while the Armor Machine Gouram measures a height of approx. 190 mm x width of approx. 80 mm. Both are made of ABS / PVC.

Next, we have a myriad of Kamen Rider Kuuga goods including: wristbands, ties, t-shirts, acrylic keychains, a foldable tote bag, and a muffler towel.

The Kamen Rider Kuuga Narikiri wristbands feature two designs: Rising Mighty and Ultimate Form. The Rising Mighty wristband is in red and has the Rising Mighty symbol. The Ultimate Form wristband is in black and has the Ultimate Form symbol. Each measures approximately 80 mm × 80 mm. They are made of 80% cotton and 20% acrylic.

The Kamen Rider Kuuga Kaoru Ichijo ties. Kaoru Ichijo is the police inspector is one of Yusuke’s most trusted allies, often providing him with equipment and forensic research. He leads the operative of the Science Police force formed for fighting the Grongi. Both ties are worn by Kaoru in the TV series. The ties come in two different designs: “Super Buddy Model” and “Super Makeover Model”. Each tie is made of 100% silk and measures an overall length of approx. 145 cm and width of approx. 8.0 cm.

The Kamen Rider Kuuga foldable tote bag is an eco-bag inspired by Kamen Rider Kuuga. It features an adult design with Linto monogram from the TV series. The size allows it to be fully stored. It measures approx. width of 510 mm x height of 345 mm x diameter of 210 mm with the handle measuring approx. 55 mm x 360 mm. The bag is made of 100% polyester (thin twill fabric).

The Kamen Rider Kuuga foldable tote bag from Kamen Rider Kuuga will go for 2,750 Yen (tax included).

The Kamen Rider Kuuga chibi-style muffler towel features all of Kamen Rider Kuuga’s form: Growing Form, Might Form, Rising Mighty Form, Dragon Form, Rising Dragon Form, Pegasus Form, Rising Pegasus Form, Titan Form, Rising Titan Form, and Amazing Mighty Form. Following, is the Kamen Rider Kuuga JAP Kobo Grongi belts. This is the third collaboration project with JAP Kobo, which creates unique silver jewelry and also handles costumes for movies and musicians. These belts were made to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kamen Rider Kuuga. The Grongi’s phantom belt has been changed to a regular belt that can be used everyday. The “Zu” group is replicated with copper antique plating, the “Me” group is replicated with silver antique plating, and the “Go” group is reproduced with brass plating and green-blue paint finish. Please note that plating and painting are manual, so there are individual differences. The large buckles are carefully carved to replicate the ones seen in the TV series. It is the quality of JAP Kobo, which is made with attention to detail. In addition, they are particular about the material of the belt part and use high quality thick genuine leather. The belt buckles are made of brass plate (partially painted) with the belt made of cowhide. Each comes in sizes: S (Belt leather part length about 90 cm (waist 70 cm-80 cm)), M (Belt leather part length about 100 cm (waist 80 cm) ~ 90cm)), and L (Belt leather part length about 110cm (waist 90cm ~ 100cm)). In collaboration with fashion brand “h.NAOTO”, Premium Bandai is releasing Kamen Rider Kuuga “Grongi” x h.NAOTO t-shirts. Each features a unique design in which “h.NAOTO” has incorporated the unique world view of “Kamen Rider Kuuga” into a line of t-shirts. Each has an original design with the image of the specific “Grongi”, each emblem symbol, and numbers arranged in the style of “h.NAOTO”, incorporating a Gothic taste. There are five types available: N-Daguva-Zeba, Ra-Baruba-De, Zu-Gooma-Gu, Go-Gadoru-Ba, and Zu-Baduu-Ba. Each has a rough paint to print art finish which is characterized. The foil and paint parts are all hand-filled, so it depends on the product. “h.NAOTO” is a charismatic brand that created Gothic fashion that caused a worldwide movement. Continuing the “h.NAOTO” collaboration, we have the Kamen Rider Zero-One x h.NAOTO “MetsubouJinrai” collection. Commemorating the release of the V-Cinema, Zero-One Others: Kamen Rider MetsubouJinrai, Premium Bandai is releasing exclusive apparel inspired by the iconic group from Zero-One.

This collection includes: two hoodies and three t-shirts. All apparel are made of 100% cotton and come in sizes: S (US XS), M (US S), L (US M), and XL (US L).

The Kamen Rider Zero-One x h.NAOTO MetsubouJinrai Bleach hoodie (processed logo print) has a motif that emerges from the decadent decolorization process. The damaged gauze material is patch worked and bleached to bring out the logo mark of MetsubouJinrai. It is a medium-sized food hoodie that can be used all season.
