Katsucon 2020 Convention Recap
Team TokuNet staff members Charlie and Carly attended Katsucon 2020 in National Harbor, Maryland in February, thus uniting a community of tokusatsu cosplayers and fans.
Katsucon is an annual 3-day convention at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. Katsucon is one of the largest and most popular anime conventions of the year as thousands of attendees come from all over the world to showcase their cosplays, participate in various events, and have fun with old and new friends.
The tokusatsu community on Saturday afternoon of the convention gathered at the Tokusatsu Katsucon 2020 Cosplay Meetup, hosted by TokuNet Staff member, Carly Kennedy, and Heaven’s Gem Cosplay. Fans cosplayed as characters from a myriad of tokusatsu shows such as Super Sentai, Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, Ultraman, and even Redman. Each cosplayer came to the meet up with cosplays they’ve spent so much time and energy on as well as their undying passion for tokusatsu. The meet up was even crashed by none other than Michael Copon who played Lucas Kendall/Time Force Blue Ranger in Power Rangers Time Force.
As our 30 minute allotted time frame came to an end, the final picture was snapped, and we all went our separate ways, Carly and I reflected on how big the tokusatsu community grew since Katsucon last year and how everyone’s love of the tokusatsu genre contributed to the huge success of the meet up. Carly and I want to thank everyone who attended this fun event as both a fan and a cosplayer. We both had a great time meeting others who share our passion for tokusatsu. As the tokusatsu community continues to grow, we can’t wait for what’s in store for Katsucon 2021.

This was fun! I was the one who told Michael Copon about the shoot! He said he’d stop by!
