ULTRAMAN Anime Tie-In Novel Announced
New novel will expand on the world of the Netflix Ultraman anime
A new tie-in novel has been announced for the ULTRAMAN 3DCG anime designed to provide some additional world building by telling its story from the perspective of Dan Moroboshi, the user of the ULTRAMAN SUIT VERSION 7. In contrast to his live-action namesake from UltraSeven, Moroboshi is depicted in the anime and manga as being very cold, never hesitating to use deadly force, and is highly critical of Shinjiro’s performance as Ultraman. Coming in at just short of 300 pages, the novel from Takarajimasha Publishing will be released on March 12, 2020.
Debuting last year, the anime is adapted from the 2011 ULTRAMAN manga which served as a direct sequel to the original 1966 Ultraman series. Set several years after the events of the original series, the anime focuses on Shinjiro Hayata, the teenage son of Shin Hayata, the original host of Ultraman. When a new alien threat appears, it is up to Shinjiro to follow in his father’s footsteps and become the latest hero of light, Ultraman. A second season for the anime was recently confirmed to be on its way. Season 1 is available to watch now on Netflix worldwide and will be broadcast on Tokyo MX and BS 11 starting in April.
