Event commemorates passing of the baton from the Heisei era to the Reiwa era of Kamen Rider.
A baton touch event was held in Tokyo to signal the changing of the guard from the recently concluded Kamen Rider Zi-O to the upcoming series, Kamen Rider Zero-One. Main cast members Sou Okuno (Sougo Tokiwa / Kamen Rider Zi-O) and Fumiya Takahashi (Aruto Hiden / Kamen Rider Zero-One), took part in the ceremony that took place on August 25.
Fellow Kamen Rider Zi-O cast members Gaku Oshida (Geiz Moykoin / Kamen Rider Geiz), Shieri Ohata (Tsukuyomi), and Keisuke Watanabe (Woz / Kamen Rider Woz) were in attendance alongside cast members from Kamen Rider Zero-One including Ryutaro Okada (Isamu Fuwa / Kamen Rider Valcan), Hiroe Igeta (Yua Yaiba / Kamen Rider Valkyrie) and Noa Tsurushima (Izu).
Okuno expressed his gratitude at the opportunity to play the role of Kamen Rider Zi-O. “It was a treasure to have met nice staff, a nice cast and nice viewers through the roles of Kamen Rider Zi-O and Sougo Tokiwa. Thank you for your support the past year.” In regard to Takahashi taking on the role of the main Kamen Rider, Okuno stated “I feel that it is a big thing to be in the position to hand over (the role). If you enjoy your work by expressing what you want to do in the show, it will be communicated to viewers and you can enjoy watching it.”
The new series will follow aspiring young comedian Aruto Hiden who suddenly is appointed the CEO of the tech company Hiden Intelligence. When a cyber-terrorist organization begins to hack the artificial intelligent robots that the company produces, Aruto must take on the role of Kamen Rider Zero-One and stop their rampage before other Kamen Riders from the Artificial Intelligence Military Service, or A.I.M.S. destroys them first.
Kamen Rider Zero-One will begin broadcasting on TV-Asahi starting on September 1st.
