“P.A.R.T.Y. ~UNIVERSE FESTIVAL~” Revealed as Kamen Rider Zi-O Movie Theme

The Kamen Rider Zi-O summer movie theme will be performed by DA PUMP.

Next month, Kamen Rider Zi-O The Movie: Over Quartzer will see the band DA PUMP pulling double duty. In addition to playing the new organization known as the Quartzers, led by Barlx (played by band leader ISSA), they will also be providing the movie’s theme, entitled “P.A.R.T.Y. ~UNIVERSE FESTIVAL~”. The single is set to be released on August 4 on a CD/DVD combo. There is no word yet on if the music video for the song will include any cast members from the movie.

In the movie, the Quarters seek to kill Krim Steinbelt (reprised by Chris Peppler), the literal mind and voice behind Kamen Rider Drive’s sentient transformation gear, in order to prevent Sougo from fully laying claim to the powers of Kamen Rider Drive, and thereby limit his rise to power as Kamen Rider Zi-O. The most recent trailer reveals that Woz may have been working on behalf of the Quartzers for the entirety of the show. The movie is being billed as the last page in the history of the Heisei era of Kamen Rider.

DA PUMP and lead singer ISSA have performed several singles for the Kamen Rider franchise over the last several years, starting with the opening theme for 2003’s Kamen Rider Faiz, Justiφ’s. From there, they provided the themes for the movies Kamen Rider: The First (Bright! Our Future) and Kamen Rider: The Next (Chosen Soldier), which featured ISSA in a cameo role as a Shocker commander in the former. Most recently, ISSA collaborated with Shuta Sueyoshi to provide the theme for Kamen Rider Zi-O, entitled Over Quartzer. The upcoming movie seems to continue the trend from last years’ Kamen Rider Build The Movie: Be The One of sourcing the movie title from the series’ theme.

Kamen Rider Zi-O The Movie: Over Quartzer will premiere in theaters across Japan on July 26th.
