Several tokusatsu veterans to provide motion capture for the upcoming Netflix series
With just a few days to go until the worldwide premiere of the new Ultraman anime on Netflix, Tsuburaya has released a new video on their official YouTube channel highlighting the motion capture artists that are helping to bring the world of the manga to life. The video, which you can check out below, demonstrates the actors working with each other to generate the one-on-one feedback necessary to give a convincing performance.
The show, which will feature a blend of 3D CG animation has the following performers providing the motion capture for the main characters:
Katsuyuki Yamazaki (Heisei Ultra Seven, Ultraman Orb) as Shinjiro Hayata
Shinji Kasahara (TimeFire in Mirai Sentai Timeranger) as Dan Moroboshi
Haruka Shibai (Final Fantasy XIV) as Rena Sayama and Seiji Hokuto
Teruaki Ogawa (Ninja Red in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, Black Knight in Seiju Sentai Gingaman) as Shin Hayata and Edo
Kaiji Soze as Bemular
The anime is adapted from the 2011 Ultraman manga which served as a direct sequel to the original 1966 Ultraman series. Set several years after the events of the original series, the anime focuses on Shinjiro Hayata, the teenage son of Shin Hayata, the original host of Ultraman. When a new alien threat appears, it is up to Shinjiro to follow in his father’s footsteps and become the latest hero of light, Ultraman
The new series is set to debut worldwide on Netflix starting on April 1st.
