Summary of Zi-O SG Watcher: Vol.19
Bandai’s candy toy blog posted a new entry for Kamen Rider Zi-O, revealing the remaining figures for SO-DO Kamen Rider Zi-O: RIDE 5.
The man in charge of candy toy development goes by D, and in honor of Zi-O, he has changed his usual nickname to Di-O.
“ArmorTime: Soiya! Gaim!”
SO-DO Kamen Rider Zi-O: RIDE 5 will include GaimArmor, which, much like WizardArmor, is a late addition.
There are multiple points made about the GaimArmor set.
First, it comes with option parts that allow you to combine the armor together to form its unfolded state. This is in reference to the transforming armors used by Gaim, particularly the Legend Rider armors which were like giant heads. The Ziku-Driver that the armor comes with is also placed on the back for storage. The armor can be seen resting on Zi-O’s shoulders.
Second, the armor comes with the weapons associated with it, the Daidaimaru Z – these orange slice weapons are based on the weapon associated with Gaim’s default form. Di-O explains that the original intent was to have these items store on the back armor, just like the show – but the scale would be problematic, and there would be an unsightly peg on the back of the sword. To resolve this, they include a pair of dummy Daidaimaru Z that peg into the armor when the figure isn’t holding weapons.
Third, there will, of course, be an Action Body for normal Zi-O included with the wave, which is meant to be used with GaimArmor, just like the previous waves with FourzeArmor and OOOArmor. As such, a small change was made – instead of the usual fists, the figure will come with a pair of fists that are tilted forward, allowing for a nuanced but stylish pose.
Finally, since the armor is split into two sets, there was room for accessories. The Gaim-themed gadget, Kodama SuikaArms, is a single piece with stickers. It features a display stand peghole on the back.
The RideHeisaber for DecadeArmor is also included – much like the last couple of waves, this is a variant of the weapon with a RideWatch inserted, along with a sticker depicting it with all of the Rider emblems lit up.
Since much of the post was about explaining what the armor could do, Di-O takes a moment to simply provide plenty of photos of the figure in action.
Finally, it is revealed that there’s one more addition to RIDE 5: A “Color Change Version” of the Armor Changing body for Geiz. This is a variation of the usual armored body, which is casted in red plastic instead of grey, making it more accurate to the show’s design. This seemed to be in response to feedback.
Since there is no armor included with this particular wave, Di-O demonstrates how it looks wearing all of the previous Geiz armors.
In one last addition to the blog post, Di-O reveals a minor running change with the display stands: Two pegholes were added to attach the alternate hands. This, again, seemed to be in response to feedback, as Di-O remarks that he’s “kept you all waiting for this.”
With that, the whole lineup for RIDE 5 has been revealed. This will include DecadeArmor, GaimArmor, WizardArmor, and the updated Geiz armor body. The set will be released on January 28th, 2019.
With just one more addition, Di-O reveals a future inclusion in the SO-DO line: Oma Zi-O, the ominous overlord of 2068. This figure is part of a future lineup, from the sounds of it, but a teaser seemed appropriate due to the recent episodes.
“So that’s the update so far as of 2018! The next update will be delayed due to the end-of-the-year holidays and New Year celebrations, so there will be a little wait – the next update will be available on January 13th, 2019! be available but will be updated on January 13, 2019! To everyone who is viewing this blog, thank you very much for your support this year! Although it is a little early, everyone please have a good year!”
