Live Action Bleach Film with Tokusatsu Alumni Adds Encore Screening for US Premiere
An encore screening has been added to the US premiere of the live action BLEACH film, featuring past tokusatsu actors.
On July 9, The Japan Society released a statement saying that it will hold an encore showing of the live action Bleach film, as the tickets for the original screening have already sold out. The showing will start at 7:45 p.m. EST on July 28 as part of the JAPAN CUTS: Festival of New Japanese Film, and the encore will be at 11:00 pm EST the same day.
The highly anticipated film of the critically acclaimed shounen manga series by Tite Kubo holds a full cast of tokusatsu alumni. Fukushi Sato leads the cast as Ichigo Kurosaki, the main character of the series. He previously was known for playing Gentaro Kisaragi aka Kamen Rider Fourze in the series of the same name, and recently came back to reprise his role in Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FINAL: Build & Ex-Aid with Legend Riders for the first time in several years.
Two other fellow Kamen Rider Fourze cast also star: Ryo Yoshizawa, as the Quincy archer Uryu Ishida, and Erina Mano, who plays Orihime Inoue. Yoshizawa played the secondary Rider, Ryusei Sakuta/Kamen Rider Meteor, and Mano played Misaki Nadeshiko/Kamen Rider Nadeshiko.
The director of the film, Shinsuke Sato, will appear at the earlier screening to introduce the film, and will participate in a Q&A. It is not currently known if this will be repeated for the encore showing. The event will be presented by Anime NYC and Japan Cuts.
The film will release in Japan on July 20 and will center around the “Substitute Shinigami Arc”, the first arc of the series. This covers volumes 1-8 of the manga.
