Katsucon 2018 Convention Recap
Team TokuNet contributors Charlie and Gladys attended Katsucon 2018 in National Harbor Maryland in February, in hopes of bringing together the tokusatsu community.
Katsucon is an annual 3-day convention that brings fans together with Japanese animation and culture. Katsucon is one of the largest and most popular anime conventions of the year as attendees come from all over to showcase their cosplays and have fun with friends.
The tokusatsu community on Friday afternoon of the convention gathered at the Tokusatsu Katsucon 2018 Cosplay Meetup, hosted by Sirna Cosplay and Heaven’s Gem Cosplay. Fans cosplayed as characters from a myriad of tokusatsu shows such as Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and even Power Rangers.
Each cosplayer came to the meet up with cosplays they’ve spent so much time and energy on as well as their undying passion for the genre.
As the final picture was taken and everyone parted ways, Gladys and I realized how amazing the tokusatsu community is and our love of tokusatsu is what made the meet up so successful.
Gladys and I want to thank everyone who attended this meet up as both a fan and a cosplayer as we both had an unforgettable experience meeting others who share our passion for tokusatsu. As the tokusatsu cosplay community continues to grow, we can’t wait for what’s in store for Katsucon 2019.
