Tokusatsu Parody Series, Mystic Cosmic Patrol, Announces New Comic Strip
The creators behind tokusatsu parody series, Mystic Cosmic Patrol, collaborates with former Tokyopop artist, Jose Macasocol Jr., to create a chibi-style comic strip for the series.
Mystic Cosmic Patrol premiered on the media website, Funny or Die, at the end of August 2017 as a parody comedy series, spoofing tropes from franchises such as Power Rangers, Super Sentai, and kaiju and space adventure films and series.
Creator, Gavin Hignight, reached out to the Tokusatsu Network to announce a collaboration with former Tokyopop artist, Jose Macasocol Jr. for a series of chibi-style webcomic strips featuring more adventures from Mystic Cosmic Patrol.
Gavin and Jose previously worked together at Tokyopop, then later collaborated on Gavin’s webcomic, The Concrete World, where Jose was the webcomic’s colorist. Gavin stated that he always thought it would be fun to explore the world of Mystic Cosmic Patrol in Jose’s art style.
The comic strips will be posted on the Mystic Cosmic Patrol website and official Facebook page from time to time, starting at the end of September.
Mystic Cosmic Patrol is currently streaming on Funny or Die, with new episodes posted on Thursdays.
