Daisuke Ban to Star in Go For Broke
Daisuke Ban, best known for the role of Jiro in Android Kikaider, will star in a movie about the 442nd Regimental Combat Team titled Go For Broke.
Known for the titular role of Jiro (Kikaider) in 1972’s Android Kikaider, Daisuke Ban has been announced to be starring in a historical film about the all-Japanese 442nd Regimental Combat Team and 100th Infantry Battalion from World War II. The story follows ROTC students from the University of Hawaii following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Ban reprised his role in Kikaider 01. He also played the role of Makoto Jin (Battle Cossack) in Battle Fever J and Doctor Hoshi in Choujuu Sentai Liveman. Ban made an appearance in the Kikaider reboot as Kyujiro Maeno. Those behind the film are still seeking donations to finish it. The following quote comes from the official Go For Broke website.
“We are striving to accurately tell the unknown stories of Hawaii’s critical role in creating the brave men who would to help literally save the world from Fascism, and a production of this magnitude requires significant resources. Your help is needed now more than ever. With your generous financial support, we’ll be able to complete this mission in time for the last remaining 100th / 442nd veterans to see their origin stories told.”
Go For Broke is directed by Alexander Bocchieri and written by Stacey Hayashi.
