Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star Zhang Ziyi is announced to join Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ growing ensemble cast, with a major role in the film.

Recently, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star Zhang Ziyi has been announced to join the growing ensemble cast for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the sequel to the 2014 Godzilla film. Additionally, she has been reported to have a prominent role in the film’s story. This role (currently) is said to be as a representative of the organization Monarch.

Furthermore, upon the announcement of her inclusion, director Mike Dougherty (X2, Superman Returns) left a very cryptic message on his official Twitter account. This message being:

It has also been reported that her casting is part of a multi-picture contract for Legendary Pictures’ and Warner Bros.’ cinematic universe known as the “MonsterVerse”

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is expected for a release date of May 22nd, 2019.
