Pacific Rim 2 Finds New Director
Legendary Pictures has selected Steven S. DeKnight to direct Pacific Rim 2.
Distributor Universal Pictures had previously removed Pacific Rim 2 from its releases schedule, leading many to believe that the film was dead. Guillermo Del Toro, director of the first installment, assured fans that this was not the case, and that more news was soon forthcoming.
Yesterday evening the news dropped that Pacific Rim 2 was moving forward with a new director, Steven S. DeKnight. This will be DeKnight’s feature film debut, as he has previously served as a writer and executive producer working mostly in television. His main claims to fame are creating the Starz series Spartacus and serving as showrunner for the first season of Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil.
Fans wondering about DeKnight’s connection to the genre will be happy to know that he grew up watching the first wave of tokusatsu shows to hit American shores.
