‘The Ultraman’ Short Among Lineup for Season 3 of Japan Animator Expo
The next season of the Japan Animator Expo will include the short The Ultraman within its lineup.
Spearheaded by Hideaki Anno’s Studio Khara, the Japan Animator Expo showcases a selection of animated shorts that are streamed weekly with the media company Dwango. Earlier this year, the first season of the expo kicked off with two tokusatsu-inspired animated shorts, Denkou Choujin Gridman: boys invent great hero and PP33: Power Planet #33, both by Studio Trigger.
In the upcoming Expo, an animated short titled The Ultraman will be among the lineup and is directed by Akitoshi Yokoyama, who has worked on such titles as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Gurren Lagann, and Kill la Kill, to name a few.
The Japan Animator Expo will begin on July 25th and will release a short every Friday. Some of the shorts will play for a two-week limited run in 10 theaters across Japan. The theatrical release will also show the 12 animated shorts from the first season as well as three shorts from the third season, Hammerhead, Conte (Hitman) 1989 (COMEDY SKIT 1989 or Conte Koroshita 1989), and Bubu & Bubulina.
