Ultraman Ginga S – First Images & Sakamoto Attached
Tsuburaya announced via their official blog new information for the next series of Ultraman Ginga, along with a first complete glimpse at the new character, Ultraman Victory.
Airing as episodes of Shin Ultraman Retsuden, the new series entitled Ultraman Ginga S will follow the same pattern of the previous series, being aired in two separate 8-episode cours as opposed to a consecutive 16-episode season. The first season of the show will air from July 15th to September 2nd while the second season will air from November 4th to December 23rd.
Little more has been revealed regarding plot details, but the show will feature another Ultra character, the mysterious Ultraman Victory. The new character’s host will be played by Kiyotaka Uji, who portrayed the Unicorn Zodiarts in 2012’s Kamen Rider Fourze.
“When Ginga finished last year, I told Tsuburaya Productions that I wanted to work again next year,” Takuya Negishi, who stars as Hikaru Raidō, said, “there was more that I wanted to communicate.”
“I was thrillied when I heard I’d become Ultraman Victory,” said newcomer Uji, “I yelled at the top of my lungs when I got home. Becoming another member of the historic Ultraman lineage is a big responsibility. I grew up watching Ultraman and playing with the toys, I know now that there are no impossible dreams. I will do my best to now be part of this generation’s children, protecting peace and fighting evil enemies.”
The series will be directed by none other than fan-favorite Koichi Sakamoto (Kamen Rider Fourze, Kyoryuger, Aka x Pink). This marks his second Ultra Series project following 2009’s Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends The Movie.
Sakamoto mentions it has been five years since he last participated in the Ultra franchise, with 2009’s Ultra Galaxy Legend: Mega Monster Battle and that this time he hopes to convey a different kind of action compared to human scale scenes.
Ultraman Ginga S will begin airing on TV Tokyo starting July 5th.
