Toho Registers “Godzilla-Anime.com” Domain Name

New domain name suggests Toho may be developing Godzilla anime.

Hot on the heels of Shin Godzilla’s box office success, Toho may be looking to capitalize on the franchise’s new surge in popularity. According to Anime News Network, Toho registered “Godzilla-Anime.com” on August 2nd. Whether or not this will lead to an actual anime is unknown at this time.

The potential anime would not be the King of Monsters’ first foray into animation. In 1978 Toho and Hanna-Barbera co-produced a Godzilla cartoon, which is notorious for its inclusion of the comedic relief character, Godzooky. Twenty years later, an animated sequel series to the first American Godzilla film aired on Fox Kids.
