Cast Members, Plot Details, and Opening Song Announced for Kamen Rider Ghost
At the Kamen Rider Ghost Press Conference held today, information on the main cast, plot details, and the opening theme song for the upcoming series was officially revealed.
The actor who will be playing the role of Takeru Tenkuuji / Kamen Rider Ghost is Okinawan actor Shun Nishime (17). Nishime won the Junon Superboy Contest in 2014. In Ghost, Takeru is a cheerful and carefree young man who’s father, Ryu, was a ghost hunter who died 10 years ago. While with his friends Akari and Onari, a Ganma appears before them. Takeru dies in order to protect them, but is revived through a mysterious power by a hermit. This also gives him the ability to transform. He now must find 15 Eyecons within 99 days in order for his wish to be granted. He is now a ghost hunter like his father.
The main monsters for this season are the Ganma, who have come to Earth through an eye-like gate. The Ganma do not possess any special abilities on their own, but gain their powers through objects. They’re also searching for the Eyecons, but their goal is a mystery.
Hikaru Ohsawa will be playing Akari Tsukimura, Takeru’s childhood friend who sees him as a brother. She studies physics in university and believes there’s a scientific explanation for everything including weird phenomenon. She helps out Takeru with his ghost hunting.
Ryosuke Yamamoto will play Makoto Fukami / Kamen Rider Spectre. Yamamoto also appeared in Episode 10 of Neo Ultra Q. Makoto is the opposite of Takeru as he’s a cool and collected character who is also an expert in battle, making him stronger than Takeru. He also uses the Ghost Driver to transform and is collecting Eyecons, but his reasons are unknown.
Takeru’s other friend, Onari, will be played by Takayuki Yanagi. Onari is the head priest of the Tenkuu temple. He respects Takeru’s father a lot and watches over Takeru and his growth as a ghost hunter. While he’s a serious person, he’s also the funny guy and the mood-maker of the group.
Yoshiyuki Morishita will be playing a mysterious man who summons the Ganma and is one of the few people that know what the eyecons truly are. Hayato Isomura will be playing Alan, a character who works with the mysterious man, but Alan is not his subordinate. His identity and goals are a mystery.
Naoto Takenaka will act as a wise hermit guiding Ghost on his quest to revive himself. He knows that Takeru has Eyecons and says it’s Takeru’s destiny to fight. Takenaka is an established actor, comedian, singer and director who has been in such movies as Shall We Dance? (1996) and Shinjuku Incident (2009) opposite Jackie Chan. He was also in the first episode of 2011’s Garo: Makai Senki as the Horror Cigarein.
The theme song, said to still be in production, will be performed by Kishidan. Kishidan lead vocalist, Show Ayanocozey, formerly known as DJ Ozama, previously contributed to the Kamen Rider series by singing the theme song to Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Fourze & OOO: Movie War Mega Max, “Samurai Strong Style”.
Kamen Rider Ghost will begin airing on October 4th, 2015 at 8:00 AM JST on TV Asahi.
